Job Summary
Bay Smiles is seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our dental team in various clinical and administrative tasks. This position requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for patients.
Duties
Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, ensuring that the necessary instruments and materials are prepared and available.
Take and develop X-rays while adhering to safety protocols.
Record patient medical histories, vital signs, and other relevant information accurately.
Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of dental instruments and work areas in compliance with infection control standards.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-operative care, and treatment plans.
Manage patient appointments, including scheduling, confirmations, and follow-ups using dental software such as Dentrix.
Knowledge of dental coding.
Support specialized procedures in areas such as prosthodontics and pediatric dentistry as required.
Skills
Proficiency in dental coding related to dental procedures.
Knowledge of general dentistry practices and terminology.
Experience with X-ray technology and safety protocols.
Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
Familiarity with prosthodontics techniques is preferred (Must make temporaries)
Competence in using Dentrix or similar dental management software.
Ability to monitor vital signs effectively during patient assessments.
Experience in pediatric dentistry is a plus for those working with younger patients.
Skilled in four-handed dentistry techniques to assist the dentist efficiently.
Knowledge of medical imaging processes related to dental diagnostics.
