Dental Assistant

The Personnel Board of Jefferson County is recruiting a full-time Dental Assistant for the Jefferson County Department of Health in Alabama, offering an annual salary range of $38,147–$59,176. The role supports dentists and hygienists with chair-side care, instrument sterilization, material preparation, and treatment setup in both clinic and mobile settings, while also handling scheduling, billing, and recordkeeping. Work is performed under established clinical protocols and the direct supervision of a supervising hygienist or dentist. Candidates must have experience with electronic dental records (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft) and digital radiography, and meet at least one pathway of formal dental assisting training, a certificate, or equivalent hands-on assisting experience. Preferred qualifications include a CODA-accredited certificate, experience with pediatric, oral surgery or endodontic assisting, and familiarity with insurance verification and front-desk workflows.
