Provide preventive and clinical hygiene care including prophylaxis, periodontal scaling, root planing, oral cancer screenings, periodontal charting, dental X-rays and digital scans, and application of sealants, fluoride, and desensitizing agents. Educate patients on brushing, flossing, nutrition, and lifestyle as they relate to oral health, and review and update medical histories and patient records.
Collaborate with the dentist on treatment planning and document clinical findings in patient management software (examples given). Maintain infection-control and equipment-care practices per OSHA, CDC, and HIPAA guidelines, and clean, sterilize, and prepare instruments and treatment rooms. Hold a state dental hygiene license and current CPR/BLS certification, be proficient in patient management software, communicate effectively, work professionally in a team, and be able to stand or sit for extended periods.
