Provide chairside orthodontic support including assisting the orthodontist during treatment, instructing patients on elastic use, and anticipating next steps to stay synchronized with the doctor. Prepare tray set-ups to doctor preferences; assist with bonding, banding, adjusting, debonding, placing and cementing bands; set up brackets and remove excess cement; and make retainers, bleaching trays, and impressions.
Perform diagnostic imaging and records: take diagnostic-quality X-rays and attach them to charts, take initial, progress, and de-bond photos, and take scans for clear aligners or models. Mix amalgam, cement, and impression materials; pour, trim, and polish impression trays; and prepare tray materials. Prolonged sitting and standing may be required and lifting up to 15 lbs is needed. Experience with dental practice management software (Open Dental/Dentrix) is listed; bilingual Spanish is preferred.
