The Dental Assistant works under the direction of the dentist and Operations Leader to support patient care and practice operations. Responsibilities include preparing and breaking down operatories, sterilizing instruments, setting up trays and materials, assisting chair-side, taking radiographs and digital scans as prescribed, providing postoperative instructions and oral hygiene guidance, managing lab cases and equipment logs, preparing charts, and entering records into the practice management system under the dentist’s direction.
The role emphasizes patient-centered service and a positive first impression by phone or in person, adherence to HIPAA and OSHA procedures, completion of required continuing education, and collaboration with the Operations Leader, doctors, hygiene, and patient coordinator. A high school diploma or equivalent and any state/county/local required license or training are required.
