EFDA Expanded Functions Dental Auxiliary

Single-dentist practice seeking an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to place restorations and perform other EFDA chairside duties, with occasional coverage of general dental assistant tasks to help scheduling. The office has one primary dental assistant who does most dentist chairside assisting; the EFDA hire will primarily work independently. Openings available for full- or part-time. Office hours for patient care are Monday 11:00–18:00, Tuesday 07:00–15:00, Wednesday 09:00–17:00, Thursday 07:00–15:00, and Friday 07:00–15:00 on alternating weeks. The practice moved into a newly built, fully updated office three years ago. Requirements listed include EFDA certification or equivalent, experience as a dental assistant, proficiency with EMR systems (Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic), HIPAA knowledge, pediatric dentistry experience, operation of X-ray and 3D imaging equipment, and infection control/aseptic technique.
